Tecolote Ranch

For Sale

9,149 Acres - $9,000,000

The Ranch

Tecolote Ranch is a true jewel of the Southwestern United States, and a

fine representation of an enchanted place in  New Mexico’s “Land of Enchantment”.  Situated in the rolling foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in San Miguel County, this 9,149 acre ranch boasts a diverse landscape---- deep canyons,  timbered forests with a mix of Pines-- Ponderosa, Jack and  Piñon,  Cedar and Gamble Oak, all  amid spacious Meadowlands.

The ranch has been under the Santa Fe Conservation Trust since 1999 so that the rare beauty of this ranch will remain an exclusive, private, and ecologically pristine refuge for generations to come. In addition to the four compounds already on the property, 10 additional homes (compounds) of at least 5 Acres can be built and conveyed,  each to be completely private from the others--allowing all to use the remaining acreage for personal use (as a “Ranch Condo”), or you can keep the property as a continuation of the working ranch it is today.

Location

Conveniently located just minutes from the historic town of Las Vegas, the ranch is accessible via ground or air, with an airport that accommodates private aircraft. The property is only a beautiful 45+ minute drive from the renowned city of Santa Fe---New Mexico’s Capital where you’ll find the

best in fine dining, galleries, shopping and and the most unique of Native American culture, artifacts and art.  Albuquerque, with access to an International Airport is 110 miles NE via I-25.  Specifically, the ranch is accessed off I-25 at the Romeroville exit about 4 miles due West to the Headquarters on the county road that leads to the Village of Ojitos Frios. You can also access  the ranch from Mineral Hill Road, State Highway 283, approximately 3 miles North of the Romeroville exit off I-25, then West approximately 4 miles.

Recreation

The ranch abounds with wildlife--a robust population of Merriam’s Wild Turkey, Deer, Elk (5 Bull and 15 Cow Permits),  Blue Grouse, and Dove, so hunting is at its best. There is also a nice stocked pond for fishing right out the front door of the main home, or you can head out for Whitewater rafting on the Rivers nearby, or enjoy boating, swimming, and fishing in the Lakes in the surrounding countryside. Skiing resorts are many and easy to find.  You won’t lack for recreational opportunities!

Property Details:

A charming newly renovated Main Home has three bedrooms, two full baths, a spacious living and dining room and a dine-in kitchen, and to

top it off a basement that would serve you well as a wine cellar. The two bedroom, two bath Guest Home is next door, and it has a large front porch for viewing the pond and Tecolote peak beyond. A Foreman’s home with barns, corral and working pens is just down the road, and there is a spacious Ranch-hand manufactured home with barn on another part of the ranch with access from a County Maintained Road.

Natural Resources:

Tecolote Ranch is fortunate to have an abundance of water, even though the land can be considered high desert terrain. There are five artesian natural mountain springs which provide not only water for livestock , but also for the main water system of the ranch headquarters and Foreman’s home. Several large ponds are located around and near the ranch headquarters. There are ten wells on the property, and all are capable of producing excellent water, and registering between 20 and 60 gpm. Timber, flagstone, hay and alfalfa are all harvested on the ranch.

Terrain:

The ranch, within the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, is approximately 70% timbered with Ponderosa, Jack Pine, Pinon, and Cedar trees along with an abundance of scrub Oak. The land is hilly and rolling with the timbered areas intermingled among small and large expanses of meadowland.  Grass lands are black grama, brome, alfalfa and clover providing excellent grazing.
